Instructions

  1. 1.Get into the pushup position with your back straight. Move your hands together forming a ‘diamond’ shape with your index fingers and thumbs directly below your face. This is your starting position.
  2. 2.Slowly lower your body toward the ‘diamond’ while keeping your back straight.
  3. 3.Go down as far as you can, pause, the slowly return to the starting position.
  4. 4.Repeat for as many repetitions as required.

Tips

  • Variation: you can do this exercise on your knees if the standard way is too difficult.
  • If you want to keep more tension through the triceps and chest, stop each repetition just short of lockout at the top.
  • Perform the reps slowly and in a controlled manner.

Breathing Instructions

Breathe in during the eccentric (lowering) portion of the exercise and breathe out during the cocentric (elevation) portion.
