GymStreak vs Strong
Written by the GymStreak coaching teamUpdated
We make GymStreak. Every fact about Strong comes from its own website, help centre or App Store listing, checked on and linked next to each fact. Features change, so check the apps themselves before you decide. We don’t list prices: they change and vary by country.
The short answer
Strong is a fast, minimal workout logger for people who already know what they want to run; its App Store listing says it’s optimised for barbell programmes such as Starting Strength or StrongLifts 5x5. Its free version logs unlimited workouts with up to 3 templates. GymStreak writes the programme for you with AI and adds food logging and weekly streaks, but logging workouts needs Premium. Choose Strong if you have a programme and want to log it quickly; choose GymStreak if you want the programme written for you.

03 / Key differences
The key differences
Planning vs logging
Strong is a logger: you build templates (a few examples are included), and no programme generator is listed. GymStreak generates your weekly plan and lets you adjust it by chatting to the AI coach.
What’s free
Strong’s free version logs unlimited workouts, limited to 3 custom templates. GymStreak’s free version shows your plan and the exercise library, but logging workouts needs Premium. For free logging, Strong is the better pick.
Progress tracking
Strong tracks charts, personal records and 1RM, with full charts and body-part measurements in Strong PRO. GymStreak has insights, personal records and body tracking.
Food tracking
GymStreak logs food by photo, description or search. Strong doesn’t log food, though it can show nutrition imported from Apple Health.
Data
Strong exports your history to CSV. GymStreak has no CSV import or export.
04 / FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Strong free?
Yes. The free version logs unlimited workouts but is limited to 3 custom templates. Strong PRO removes the limit and adds features such as the plate calculator and full charts; it’s sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, and the App Store also lists a lifetime option.
Does Strong make workout plans?
Strong’s own site and listing don’t mention a programme generator. You build your own templates, starting from a few examples.
Can I move my Strong history to GymStreak?
Not at the moment. GymStreak doesn’t import CSV files.
Do both work on Apple Watch?
Yes. Strong lists Apple Watch support, and GymStreak has an Apple Watch app for logging sets.
I follow a 5x5 programme. Which should I use?
If you already have a programme you’re happy with and just want to log it, Strong is built for that. GymStreak suits people who want the programme itself written and adjusted for them.
